Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion Review and Giveaway
Sunday, January 03, 2010This giveaway is now closed.
It's beginning to look a lot like winter...
And it's beginning to feel a lot like winter, too.
With sub-zero temperatures and endless snowfalls looming, you can be sure of lower backache thanks to the latter and dry skin thanks to the former. We also have the heat cranked up high so that my daughter won't freeze at night since her room is the coldest in the house. And, although every winter finds me pampering my dry, cracked knuckles, it would appear that this year my hands are a lot drier than winters past.
It was thus with sheer joy that I agreed to try Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion. It boasts many excellent qualities that would make any mom smile. It's over 90% natural, dermatologist-recommended, comedogenic, hypo-allergenic, safe for the whole family, made with high quality food grade ingredients, and free of parabens, harmful fragrances and colorants. In addition, this product is not tested on animals.
Okay, so that all sounds fine and dandy, now doesn't it? Sure! But here is the best part. Unlike most conventional and artificial moisturizers, Skin MD Natural works with the skin to naturally moisturize and heal. What does that mean? Well, if you regularly use moisturizing lotions, you might find that you end up depending on these lotions to maintain the moisture and that you need to apply and reapply constantly. The reason for this is that most conventional lotions only add moisture to the skin's surface. Continued use results in dependence on these lotions for hydration because the skin ends up producing less of its own natural oils.
Skin MD Natural works differently. It helps to restore the skin's natural protective abilities by bonding to the outer layer of the skin, thereby protecting the skin from moisture-robbing irritants and toxins, all the while locking in the skins' natural oils. Yes, that was a mouthful.
Would you like to know how it worked for me? Do I have you at the edge of your seat? I know, the suspense must be torture.
Ladies and gentleman, this stuff is amazing! It only took one application for me to realize that Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion works wonders. My skin instantly felt hydrated and smooth. It absorbed quickly and was non-greasy. It has a slight neutral scent and a little goes a long way. The directions say to apply often at first but then to reduce the number of applications once your skin has reached a comfortable level of moisture. Makes sense, doesn't it?
After only a few days, my knuckles were no longer cracked and, to quote my sister-in-law, my skin felt "like butter!" I should also add that this is not just a hand lotion containing vitamin E. It also contains the rejuvenating properties of aloe vera which is great for your face, and the healing power of herbal extracts which is great for your body. It is also available in an SPF 15 formula. I highly recommend this remarkable product.

Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now keep it up!
ReplyDeleteWell, if anyone has seen my bathroom, I'm obviously one of those 'girly girls' who loves to try new products. More recently however, I've paid particular attention to the ingredients as I firmly believe that oh natural is the way to go.
ReplyDeleteIn going directly to the product site... i learned that there is a direct relation between our thyroid and the health of our skin! Fascinating really... yet it doesn't surprise me all that much! So first things first, I'm going to get my thyroid checked... and then I might head over to your place to sample some of this cream you talk so highly of... as I too want my skin to feel like butter!
Interested in knowing how our skin can be a signal that the thyroid may be over/under active? Keep reading.....
Thyroid Malfunctions Can Cause Extremely Dry Itchy Skin
The functioning of your skin depends on the general health of your body and when hormones like the thyroid are not working properly it can have a profound effect on your skin's condition.
An under-active thyroid (hypothyroid) slows the metabolic function and results in the skin being cold, dry and pale. The dryness can be so extreme that there is no sweating at all and the palms and soles get thick and dry (keratoderma). Hypothyroid dry skin is prone to develop dermatitis (eczema craquelé - a crazy paving splitting of the surface layer).
An overactive thyroid can cause skin problems too. The skin on the shins gets thick with raised plaques or nodules due to deposits of altered material in the skin. The epidermis thickens and you get an itchy, dry skin condition.
Oooohhh This looks like a lotion I would LOVE! With these temps in the below zeros these last few weeks my skin is so dry!!
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I liked about their product is the fact that it bonds to our outer layer of skin, holding our moisture in! Now that is something we could all use!!
Thank you for the chance to win this product!

I learned, that sheilding lotions allow natural oils and moisture to remain in the skin so it can heal better and they're light in texture so they go on without a greasy mess.
ReplyDeleteI have very very dry skin, excema and psoriasis and I would love to try this!

I learned that Skin MD Natural keeps your skin from accepting moisture robbing irritants, and thus has a moisturizing factor that is 6 times greater than glycerin.

I learned that humectants (hyü-'mek-tənts) are substances that promote retention of moisture. Some humectants actually draw moisture from the air to further moisturize the skin.
ReplyDeleteI also learned that this product contains a moisturizing factor of at least 6 times greater than glycerin, which, until now, has been the best humectant to draw in as much moisture from the air.

My skin is BRUTAL in the winter and commuting seems to leave me a dry mess in terms of my hands!
ReplyDeleteI learned from the site that I can use their product on my face as well as my hands (which I didn't know and is great because I find my face getting really dry in the winter as well).
Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway!
