Holiday Gift Guide: Storybooks from Hallmark
Monday, December 12, 2011When it comes to buying gifts for kids, I find it difficult to pick the perfect toy. Sometimes, I don't know what they're new favourites are, whether they are age appropriate or even if they already have what I plan to buy. This is when I default to books. You can never have enough books, in my honest opinion. Plus, there are so many neat interactive and recordable books for the holiday season available from Hallmark.
Have you seen the new interactive storybooks with story buddies? My favourite is Jingle All the Way which comes with the super adorable Jingle the Husky Pup. When you read the story, you will find certain text in red letters. Once you have read those words, it cues a response from Jingle. It really is cute!
The book is wonderfully illustrated and would make for an excellent keepsake. I received one of these to try out but I've decided to use it instead as part of a gift basket that we will be raffling off at my school. All of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit our Free the Children Brick by Brick campaign. We decided to raise funds to build a school in Ecuador which is no small feat. So every little bit helps.
We also received the new recordable storybook called Santa Claus is Coming to Town. It plays music on every page and you can record your own voice as you retell the story. I found my son immersed in this one. In the spirit of charity, we decided to add this one to the gift basket as well.
Disclosure: I was sent product from Hallmark Canada as part of their Press Pause Panel and to help facilitate this review. All opinions expressed are my own.
