Kids Take Over the AGO for Family Day 2012
Saturday, February 18, 2012
This Family Day, head on over to the Art Gallery of Ontario to celebrate the holiday while it's transformed into the KGO or Kids Gallery of Ontario for one day. Kids get to paint, sculpt, collage and make graffiti as well as stage their own exhibition called Kid Nouveau. It's a family-friendly art-making extravaganza that will include the (looka)likes of Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo and Pablo Picasso. They'll go on flashlight tours of dark rooms in the Gallery and watch cartoons in Jackman Hall.
Additional activities at the AGO on Family Day will include:
- Art-making with instructors from the AGO Gallery School, providing kids with a chance to sample activities from AGO children’s courses, including painting, sculpture and installation art;
- An installation of kids’ artworks in the Gallery as part of the first ever KGO Kid Nouveau exhibition;
- Kid-centric tours of the Gallery, including the Thomson Collection of Ship Models – where families can see actual models similar to those used in the feature film The Adventures of Tintin – and other fun and fast-paced tours.
The AGO is offering a 20% discount on Family Passes, lowering the price to $39.
A Family Pass admits two adults and up to five youths (ages 6 to 17).
As always, admission for children of age 5 and under is FREE.
