A Last-Minute Family Getaway
Tuesday, July 22, 2014
On the weekend, the family and I went on a last-minute getaway to Blue Mountain in Collingwood, one of my favourite places. This time, we stayed in a Mosaic boutique bachelor and lucked out by booking on the last day of their hot summer deal. It also happened to be Famarama weekend and guess who was there to perform. Fred Penner! On our first day there, we spent the morning mining for gems, exploring trails and playing mini golf courtesy of Scenic Caves Nature Adventures. Then we headed over to the Ridge Runner mountain coaster, went swimming in the pool and lounged in the hot tub. Below are some photos highlighting some of the other activities we enjoyed as a family. Four days of outdoor fun with the kids... feeling pretty lucky, I am!
One of my favourite photos taken in the Village. |
My son was overjoyed at the chance to drive a Jeep. |
Hanging out in the hot tub. |
After about an hour hike up the mountain, we took a gondola ride down. |
My son's first time on the Woodlot Low Ropes. Such a brave little fella! |
This year marked my daughter's second attempt and she conquered her fears! |
Enjoying a paddle boat ride with the kids on our last day. |

There's always so much to do. This year, they added a bag jump. Yes, jumping onto giant inflated bags from various heights!
DeleteI grew up in Collingwood but haven't lived there in years, boy has the mountain area changed. Next time I am up visiting family I will have to take a drive up and check it out. (Judy Cowan)

ReplyDeleteWe usually go in the winter to ski (not lately though because the slopes are too small and crowded for our liking), but I've been there once for a day trip in the summer. I'll have to check this out for a mini-getaway one day.
