Yesterday was my husband's first Father's Day. It was very special for him and especially for me. Why? Well, let's just say that ever since Madeleine has come into our life, he's had this extra twinkle in his eyes and his face has softened ever so. To me, he's like my jolly Green Giant. When I first met him back in 2003, he was this big, burly bear who worried about everything and anything and who also had a slightly pessimistic view of the world. While he hasn't changed in essence, his cynicism and general apprehension have been superseded by his overwhelming love for his daughter and his new-found joy in watching her grow. It makes me incredibly happy to watch him interact with her and tremendously proud that he is her father. He does so much for her and does so without hesitation. He is the embodiment of fatherly love.
