Let's Get This Party Started, Eh?

Today we kick off The Great Canadian Blog Bash hosted by Whispered Inspirations, Mom vs. the Boys, Positively Pampered Patty, Good Girl Gone Green and Kat’s Confessions. It's all about celebrating our country's big day and uniting Canadian bloggers both old and new. And this year, they're kicking it off with a big Twitter party full of Canadian trivia and prizes sponsored by fabulous Canadian companies! Tune in tonight at 9:00pm and follow the hashtag #TGCBB.
I will also be giving away a $25 iTunes.ca gift card but before I do, I wanted to share some interesting facts about the largest city in Canada that I now call home - Toronto. Not only is it the capital of Ontario, it is also one of the busiest places in the country. There is always something to do, places to see and it seems as though there are construction cranes everywhere you look. Here are some other interesting facts about Toronto:
- In the downtown core, you will find the CN Tower, which held the record for the World's tallest for 34 years. It also has the world's highest wine cellar and was recently presented the Guinness World Record for the "Highest External Walk on a Building."
- Toronto is also home to the only full-sized castle in North America. Casa Loma was also the setting for scenes in the movies Chicago and X-Men.
- The third largest zoo in the world is right here in the GTA.
Do you know any other fun and interesting facts about Toronto? How about the rest of our glorious nation? Share some Canadian trivia or why you're proud to be Canadian and you could win a $25 iTunes.ca gift card!
Good luck, eh!

ReplyDeleteAs a teacher too, I find it interesting that we more often say "grade one", "grade two", "grade three"... while Americans more often say it like this: "first grade", "second grade", "third grade". It's a small difference, but an interesting one! (I know we all use the terms interchangeably at times, too, but this is still intriguing to me!).
I live n Windsor, Ontario. We have the most diverse population in Canada - more ethnic people living here with their food (restaurants and grocery stores), dress, dance and culture. Carousel of the Nations celebrates this diversity. One weekend in the summer there is a festival on the riverfront (the river that separates us from Detroit, with its unique culture) where many nations offer food and a party atmosphere. Over 2 weekends various cultural centres are open to the public offering food, music and dance.
