Holiday Decor Idea - DIY Garland
Tuesday, December 31, 2013
Last Friday, we had dinner at our friends' new place, which happened to be a model home. It was the first time at their new place and it. Was. Gorgeous. But what stunned me even more so was the holiday decor that my friend used throughout her living room. The colour theme was red and silver and what I loved most was her choice of flower - red roses with a hint of glitter! In the photo above, she took railing garland and doubled it to cover the top of her half-wall. She weaved in some white lights and added the roses she had purchased at Michaels a few years ago. Along with some red tinsel and silver ornaments, it was the perfect do-it-yourself garland. It also matched her Christmas tree and additional garland on top of her fireplace mantel. Yup, I had some serious holiday decor envy!

I love easy DIY projects like this. I may have to try it next year :)
ReplyDeleteIf I can find red roses, you know I'm stealing this idea too!
DeleteGorgeous.
ReplyDeleteTo say the least!
DeleteShe did such an amazing job with the decorations! Thanks for inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI need to hang out at her place more often. I could use all the inspiration I can get! LOL
DeleteGorgeous! Happy New Year Toronto friend! Teresa from NanaHood
ReplyDeleteSame to you, Teresa! Hope 2014 is a great one!

I wish I could take credit for it but it's my friend's tree. :)
DeleteHappy New Year to you, too!
She did an amazing job, so pretty! (Judy Cowan)
ReplyDeleteI agree!
DeleteI normally have a burgandy and gold theme although we found disco ball decorations and disco ball tree lights in the sales this year, so I think our theme might be disco next year.
ReplyDeleteDisco balls? That is SO awesome!
DeleteGorgeous garland! Have a Happy New Year. :D

Happy New Year to you, too, Joyce!
DeleteBeautiful :) Since we now have the toy room done - which means we have our living room back - I might try something pretty next year :)
ReplyDeleteWe converted the office into an office/toy room on Boxing Day. It's so nice to have a toy-free living space!
DeleteSo lovely! Blessed New Year to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteSame to you!
DeleteOh, so beautiful!! I think I'm going to jump on the 'stealing this idea' bandwagon!
ReplyDeleteEach year, she arranges the garland on her half-wall with the same roses and baubles. But it's nice to know she can make it longer if need be. They will be moving in the new year and will have a different half-wall to decorate. :)
DeleteI'm envious too, and envious because I probably could never make that myself - lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing & Happy New Year!
The thing is, it's not permanent. She just inserts the roses, baubles etc. throughout and does this every year. That's what I love about it. You have the flexibility to change it up each year!
DeleteThat is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? I LOVE red roses!
DeleteLovely garland and Christmas Deco..you are really good with crafts :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could take the credit. These photos were taken at a friend's house. Which I wish was my house. It's a gorgeous place!

Happy New Year to Louis!
ReplyDeleteThat garland is very pretty. I like the addition of the red roses. I did something similar on bow window ledge - not nearly as creative or pretty as this though! Happy New Year to you as well!! :)
ReplyDeleteHmm, don't know if my previous comment posted, but what a gorgeous colour theme! We're of the "throw sparkly things at the tree and if the toddler doesn't pull it down, count it as a win" school. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the garland on the mantle it really sets it off!
ReplyDeletejust beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteLove the red roses; I never would have thought of incorporating roses on a Christmas tree!
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time to leave a comment here on Toronto Teacher Mom. Hope you have a great day!
