Brand Name Bargains at Boomerang Kids

Thursday, March 06, 2014

If there is one thing I've learned since becoming a parent, it is that I can get a little carried away with shopping for my children. It was especially difficult to tame my spending habits when my children were infants because those itsy bitsy outfits were so cutesy wootsy. Plus, my husband gave me carte blanche to buy brand name clothing at brand name prices. He is a firm believer that you get what you pay for and he places value on quality designs. This meant you would often find me in the aisles of select stores such as Mexx, Hatley, and even Jacadi. Go ahead and say it. "Cha-ching!" While I loved being able to dress up the kidlets in designer clothing, the reality was they would outgrow their wardrobe long before they had a chance to wear it out. I still have bins full of nearly new outfits to pass along to my nephew-to-be, including this one:

Collared shirt from Jacadi; v-neck sweater from Mexx

Recently, I was introduced to Boomerang Kids, North America's first and only resale chain of stores carrying new and nearly new merchandise geared towards children available in-store and online. From brand name clothes to baby gear, the selection is pretty impressive. I'm talking a Bugaboo stroller in excellent condition at less than half the price we paid for our Bugaboo over ten years ago!

After seeing the selection of kid-friendly goods, I was definitely excited to go on a little shopping spree courtesy of Boomerang Kids to see what kind of bargains I could find. First up: a Perry Ellis vest new with tags and a pair of pants for $10.99. This will be perfect for my son's kindergarten graduation.

I also nabbed a new Tommy Hilfiger sweater for my son for $12.59. The selection for boys was pretty good in his size range. Trying to find clothes for my 8-year-old daughter wasn't so easy, though. And quite frankly, she has become rather difficult to shop for. She often complains that her clothes are uncomfortable and would much rather live in a loose-fitting dress all day long, if she could. I will have to visit boomerangkids.com at a later date to check out the latest offerings.

Of course, the selection of infant wear was much more expansive. It was the perfect excuse to buy something for my goddaughter. With spring around the corner (?), a water-resistant hooded jacket from the Gap will surely come in handy. This new with tag item was listed at a mere $15.99.

And of course, I had to buy this toad-ally adorable Kermit the Frog onesie for my nephew who is expected to arrive in July. It was a steal at $2.99!

I had also been eying their assortment of Klean Kanteen water bottles. They were on sale when I first saw them but delayed finalizing my purchase until after the sale. The kids really needed some new, larger size bottles so I bit the bullet and bought two 18oz bottles with sport caps for $21.99 a piece.

The package arrived within a matter of days of placing the order, which came to less than $90 before shipping and tax. All in all, it was a pleasant shopping experience and appreciated the ability to shop by category, brand or sale items all from the comfort of my home. I will most likely be browsing sale items on Boomerang Kids again soon!
