Be Unstoppable #LikeAGirl

 Today is not a good day for me to watch the latest inspirational video from Always. Maybe it's because being at home with my kids for the summer opens my eyes to how much they have grown throughout the year. Maybe it's because my hormones are all out of whack and I'm PMSing like nobody's business. Or maybe it's because my daughter is turning 10 years old next week and I can't wrap my head around how mature she is now. Yet, I've noticed she is experiencing moments of self-doubt and is beginning to question her body image. And then I read a statistic that states 72 percent of girls feel held back by society, which dictates what they should and shouldn’t do, and that their confidence drops at around the age when their body experiences the greatest of changes. Wha? Can't my girl just stay young, fearless and puppy-eyed forever? 


About three minutes and one box of tissue later, I am convinced that now is the time to instil a greater sense of confidence in my daughter, more than ever before. My plan has always been to maintain an open and respectful relationship with her in the hopes that she will confide in me when faced with difficult emotions and situations. I want to communicate to her that she has incredible artistic talent, a kind and loving heart, a melt-your-heart smile, a dazzling personality and so much more to offer the world. In short, she is positively amazing in more ways than one and I couldn't be more proud of who she is. My hope for her is that she continues to build up her confidence and show the world that she is unstoppable, like a girl!

    I am a Mom to 5 daughters & I tell my girls to accomplish what they want to #LikeAGirl all the time. I've taught them to be strong, respectful of themselves as well as those around them & to be confident in all that they do. They are lucky to be girls!
