The Great Camp Adventure Walk to Benefit SickKids
Wednesday, July 13, 2016
No ordinary day.
No ordinary walk.
On September 24, 2016, thousands will gather together for The Canaccord Genuity Great Camp Adventure Walk, a camp-themed walk to benefit The Hospital for Sick Children here in Toronto. Canada’s leading centre dedicated to improving children’s health, SickKids treats more than 100,000 patients each year and is home to Canada’s largest, hospital-based child health research institute. In an effort to support patient care, research discoveries, knowledge sharing among medical professionals and the hospital’s most critical needs, The Great Camp Adventure Walk will embark on its fourth annual event and is something you cannot miss.
What is The Great Camp Adventure Walk?
The Great Camp Adventure Walk is a 20-kilometre family-friendly walk that is open to participants of all ages and features themed campsites every 5km. Each campsite will offer the opportunity to enjoy fun activities, grab a snack, and pick up a unique badge for reaching distances milestones. While you can challenge yourself to walk the entire 20km, you can complete 5km, 10km, or 15km and catch the bus at any of the campsites for a ride back to Main Camp.
Where Does The Great Camp Adventure Walk Take Place?
The journey begins at Main Camp at Fort York. Over the past three years, the 20-kilometre route has ventured through Toronto’s most scenic and interesting neighbourhoods, such as the fashion district to picturesque Cabbagetown and along the trendy Queen Street West strip. The walk always ends up back at Main Camp at the historic Fort York. You can view the online schedule and maps from previous years for more details.
How Do We Register?
Participants can register for The Great Camp Adventure Walk online. Registration fees vary from $25 to $50 per person based on age and children under 5 can register for free. Tip: Register before August 5 and save as registration fees will increase. Keep in mind that the fundraising goal minimum for adults age 18 and over is $400 and, for children between the ages of 5 and 17, the minimum is $100. Don't forget that participants will enjoy a day full of activities and can earn badges throughout the day. Meals and snacks will be provided, as well as an event t-shirt to remember this special day.
