Rainbow Fruit Skewers with Creamy Lemon Dip #MakeSummerGreat

Wednesday, July 06, 2016

When the lovely hostess extraordinaire Lena extends an invitation to enjoy a delicious BBQ, it's kind of hard to pass up. Especially given that it was nearing the end of June and it was the perfect way to ring in the summer. Co-hosted by Walmart Canada, the backyard BBQ was an excellent opportunity to discover fun summer party foods and entertaining tips to help #MakeSummerGreat. From secret burger sauce and creamy taco dip to an incredible ice cream sundae bar, I'd say our summer got off to a pretty great start indeed!

If you were following along as we tweeted photos of the scrumptious fare and were curious to try out some of the menu items, fret not. Today I share with you a super easy recipe for what will be my go-to summer treat, courtesy of Walmart Canada. If the brightly coloured fruit isn't enough to entice, wait till you try the creamy lemon dip. Serve them up in mini mason jars with chalkboard labels to finish them off with a personalized touch.

Rainbow Fruit Skewers with Creamy Lemon Dip

Fruit Skewers

  • 10 small strawberries
  • 10 cantaloupe balls or peach wedges
  • 10 pineapple wedges or banana chunks
  • 10 kiwi wedges or honeydew balls
  • 30 blueberries
  • 10 purple grapes

Creamy Lemon Dip

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp Great Value Honey or maple syrup
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • pinch cinnamon
  • 10 short bamboo skewers

Whisk yogurt with honey, lemon and cinnamon. Set aside. Skewer fruit in rainbow pattern. Serve alongside dip.

To make ahead, wrap skewers tightly with plastic wrap, or place in a resealable bag and refrigerate up to 12 hours. Make dip up to 24 hours ahead.

TIP: If skewers start to splinter, use a twisting motion to skewer fruit.

Makes 10.
