Lolë White Tour Sunset Yoga, Like Poetry in Motion

Last Thursday, approximately 4,000 people united together in peace as part of the Lolë White Tour, presented by PANDORA Jewellery, at Exhibition Place here in Toronto. It was the first time that I actually participated in the event and I am still pinching myself over how surreal, serene and strikingly beautiful it was to join in meditation and yoga under the stars with so many people.

As if the spectacular view of the Toronto skyline and the indigo blue skies weren't enough, we were so very fortunate to be lead in a 15 minute meditation by Marla Meenakshi Joy, co-founder of Toronto’s Downward Dog Yoga Centre, followed by an amazing yoga session with Colleen Saidman Yee and my yoga hero Rodney Yee.

When I was first introduced to yoga roughly 20 years ago thanks to a dear friend, we learned from an amazing instructor who lead sessions at our women's only club. But after about a year, she left the club and the classes just weren't the same. It wasn't until I discovered Rodney Yee's instructional yoga videos that I began to enjoy yoga again. So to be able to participate in a live yoga session under the stars with him and his amazing wife, I felt so blessed.
“The Lole White Tour is an art installation and I love the poetry in motion.”

In fact, I was so overwhelmed by the whole experience that I was actually moved to tears. Like, three times. I think a part of it was due to the beautiful live music that complemented our mediation and yoga. We enjoyed original musical accompaniment by Canadian singer-songwriter BEYRIES, along with an earlier performance of songs from her debut album Landing.

Since I attended the Lolë White Tour as media, I wanted to be able to capture my experience on camera but I felt that it interfered slightly with the whole zen and relaxation theme of the event. Luckily, Tony F of Tony F Photography was on hand to capture some really amazing photos that I have shared in this post, including the one below. Can you spot me? I'm the one dressed in white.

Since the first Lolë White Tour in 2012, over 50,000 participants all dressed in white have come together to practise as one. If you would like to learn more about an event near you, bookmark lolewhitetour.com. You can enjoy the Yogi Experience at a pre-sale cost of $44, which includes an evening yoga session, a free Lolë yoga mat, a gift bag and a $15 Lolë promo card. There is also a VIP Jewellery PANDORA Experience, which includes an evening yoga session, a free Lolë yoga mat, a gift bag, a $30 Lolë promo card, a PANDORA Essence signature bangle valued at $70, fast lane access to the event, a reserved section near the main stage, and free drinks and snacks, such as cheese, crackers, tapenade, olives, raw vegetables, iced tea, kombucha and more. The tour heads to Montreal on August 12 where they are extending it to a day-long event, which means you can choose a morning, afternoon or evening session, or a morning and evening combo. It makes me wish I lived closer to Montreal...

ReplyDeleteThis was an amazing experience! I will have to look for it next summer! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! Simply stunning! Its almost been 10 years since my body under went the abuse of having children and to be honest I never really did much to get back into shape afterwards (lost the weight but never dealt with weaker, stretched out muscles). What I am noticing now is the lack of strength in my core and how it is negatively impacting my back. I have never been motivated to try Yoga in the past as I am a more team sports oriented person however as I age I am realizing how important it is to have good posture, strong muscles, flexibility etc. I am turning a new left this week and starting a Yoga program to correct an anterior pelvic tilt issue. You never know, maybe this will inspire me to continue with Yoga beyond fixing my issue and I perhaps I will embrace the other benefits as well such as meditation. Thank you for your post. It was inspiring. Katherine Moore
