Counting Down to Christmas with Hallmark
Sunday, December 16, 2018
A funny thing happened this weekend. I blinked and it was mid December. You're probably thinking that I'm going to complain, like I do every year, about how little time I have left to finish my holiday shopping but you'd be wrong. For what feels like the first time, I am not panicking at all. Last year, school didn't let out until December 22, which left me feeling rushed to buy all the things. But then I had almost two of weeks of vacation time where my shopping woes were all behind me and I could actually enjoy plenty of downtime. This year, school ends just a day earlier but I'm holding onto that post-Christmas feeling of peace that followed the hectic last-minute shopping of 2017. Oh, and I've had quite a bit of help checking things off my list thanks to my friends at Hallmark Canada who sent over what is quite possibly my favourite #LoveHallmarkCA bundle of all time. Two of my favourite holiday decor items, seen above, include the embroidered Merry Christmas pillow with felt attachment and red piping, and the Woven Blanket. Both help bring a cozy feeling to our family room and retail for $32.99 and $29.99 respectively.
Not surprisingly, Hallmark continues to offer some of the most beautiful ornaments and this year adds a gorgeous line of blown glass ornaments with the Heritage Collection. The Santa's Ride Ball, seen above, is the creative work of artist Jim Tronoski, who was enchanted by the creative attention to detail he discovered on a 100-year-old archival postcard that inspired this whimsical Christmas tree ornament. The hand-painted ornament is just one of many ornaments inspired by the art from the Hallmark Archives, interpreted by a Hallmark artist, and then hand-blown and crafted by artisans in Poland. They range in price from $24.99 to $39.99.
Looking for something a little more personalized? Hallmark has a collection of festive holiday mugs for mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and more. This durable ceramic white coffee cup features a red dipped-glaze base and a sprinkling of embossed snowflakes. It retails for $15.99.
Of course, we can't forget the super cute Interactive Santa Plush. He says any of eight phrases at the push of a button and has an attached bag with a functional drawstring. This super soft and cuddly plush retails for $24.99. Throw in a beautifully crafted Hallmark card and you're all set for the little one on your shopping list. Honestly, Hallmark has some of the most beautiful greeting cards that feature delicate embellishments, festive designs and stunning simplicity.
And then we have Hallmark's collection of Paper Wonder Holiday Pop-Up Cards. These are a gift in and of themselves to be treasured for always. The crafter in me truly marvelled over the beauty of these cards. Keep an eye out for exclusive Paper Wonder cards the next time you're at Walmart.
For Peanuts fans, you will love Hallmark's Woodstock 3D House with Cards. It comes with 16 gingerbread house shaped cards and envelopes which are stored in a beautiful box. This set retails for $16.99 and pairs perfectly with the Linus and Snoopy Gift Card Holder Box that plays the iconic Peanuts tune when opened. The gift card holder box is priced at $6.99.
Last, but certainly not least, is Hallmark's itty bittys Santa and Rudolph Christmas Countdown Calendar. This sturdy fabric calendar has 24 pockets to hold itty bittys Santa (included with purchase) as you count down to the big day. It retails for $39.95 and would make the perfect gift for the teacher on your shopping list.
